Angela's Birth of Kallie

Kallie is TWO!

Kallie turned TWO this weekend and I still can't believe it!
I love reminiscing and I thought that I'd share Kallie's birth story with you... since it is her birthday and all.
February 25, 2012 - Kallie's 2nd Birthday!
My pregnancy with Kallie was very uneventful. Well, other than selling and buying a new house and moving to a new town all when I was 33 weeks along but, medically wise - very uneventful.
February 24, 2010
I thought that I was going to be pregnant forever. I was 7 days overdue and was scheduled to be induced the following morning at 6am but, I really wanted to try and go into labour by myself.

I drank umpteen cups of red raspberry leaf tea (I don't know if that actually works but I was ready to try anything..except for the whole castor oil thing), went for a few walks, did some squats, and finally by mid afternoon I noticed the contractions becoming more regular.
February 2010 - Kallie's 1st week
By 4:30pm Jon and I were headed into the hospital and I was hoping and praying that it was true labour. I really didn't want to be sent home.

5:30pm rolled around and the nurse was ready to send me home because she thought that I had tons of time before a baby was making it's out. But, no sooner did she tell us that and the really painfully intense contractions started coming every 2 minutes. So, they admitted me and a couple of hours later I received my wonderful epidural!
The epidural only worked on my left side and I could still feel all of the contractions on the right side. Not exactly the results I was hoping for. So, after about 1.5hrs and trying different positions to try and get the med to disperse properly, the nurse gave me a little bit of an epidural med boost and, by 12am I wasn't able to feel a thing and was as happy as could be!

12:30am I started to feel really nauseous. I told the nurse that I thought I was ready to start pushing but, because I was only 7cm an hour prior to that, she said that there was no way I was at 10cm already.
I kept nagging her and telling her to check again and finally she gave in.
And, guess what? I was 10cm!
I pushed for 30 minutes and then was abruptly told to stop and to not even think of sneezing or coughing because Kallie right there and was ready to pop out... but my doctor hadn't arrived yet! So, we waited 30 minutes until he arrived (thank goodness for that epidural otherwise I would not have been waiting for him to get there!) and with a barely a push she was out!
Jon and I welcomed Kallie into our family at 2:03am on February 25, 2010, weighing 8lbs 10 oz and 21.5 inches long.
Top: 4 mths old,
Bottom Left to right: 16 months old, 8 months old, 3 months old.
I will never forget that day. It was one of the best days of my life!
(Getting married to Jon and welcoming Bronson into the world are the other best days of my life)
Now, looking back at all of the wonderful memories, I can't believe that two years have already passed by.
I remember wondering when the sleepless nights from being up with a colicky baby would end.
I remember anxiously waiting for Kallie to be big enough to use the bumbo.
I remember how cute and messy she was while eating her first baby cookie.
I remember how excited Jon and I were for her first jump in her Jolly Jumper.
I remember celebrating her 1st birthday like it was yesterday.
I remember watching her learn to walk.
I don't want to take any moment I have with any of my kids for granted. Kallie is the most loving, caring, funny, adventurous, and adorable little girl, and we are blessed beyond measure to have her as our daughter.
Happy Birthday my dear Kallie! Daddy and I love you very very much and I don't want you to ever forget that!

Heather's Birth of Emerson Brooks

Heather's Birth of Emerson Brooks
Birth Story of Emerson Brooks
I had my daughter in May 2007, I got the Mirena IUD in September of 2007. The beginning of 2010 I realized that all my issues I was having was because of the Mirena, I decided to have it removed and it came out the day before Thanksgiving 2010. In January 2011 Fiancee and I decided we were ready to try for #2. At this point my daughter was almost 4 and it was just time. It took 2 months of trying. I got pregnant April 3rd 2011. I found out I was pregnant on April 15th 2011, 4 days BEFORE my missed period. I was elated. Fiancee's birthday is April 20th so I was going to wait until his birthday to tell him, but I just couldn't wait. I was nauseous the next morning so I told him. He too was very excited!
The journey began.

MY pregnancy went GREAT! I had some nausea, but never got sick (same with my daughter). Everything was uneventful until around 20ish weeks when the heartburn kicked into gear. It was intense, so bad I felt the need to throw up often. I never did though! Around 25 weeks I got pregnancy induced carpel tunnel. Besides those 2 things everything went perfectly with my pregnancy.
My last picture at 40 weeks!

12/27 (my due date). I had an appt with my OB at 1:50 and he stripped my membranes, it hurt, but I read that if it didn't then it wasn't done right... I was still a 3 (had been for 3 weeks) and after the strip I was a 3-4 and had bulging waters. He said he'd see me that night.
Starting at 5:30 I was having some contractions. They were pretty regular for a whole hour (about 4-6 minutes apart) then went to about 8-9 minutes, then 10-11 minutes, then back to 4-6 and so on. They did this until 11 o clock. Regular, but not consistent. Then they stopped... I figured I'd go lay down and try and get some sleep. I fell asleep around 12. I had 3 strong contractions wake me up for the next couple hours, but I was able to fall back asleep... until 3:15.

12/28 (1 day overdue). At 3:15am I woke up with painful contractions. So I started timing... about 5-6 minutes apart and lasting upwards of 2 minutes!
I woke up Fiancee at 3:40 and he said to keep timing. I timed them until 4:10 and finally woke him up and said we need to leave. They got a little stronger and I had to breathe through them, but they weren't majorly strong. They weren't that bad.
We got everything ready and arrived at the hospital at 5:30am. I was first checked at about 6:15 and was a 6, 80% effaced and a -2 station.
It was right around 7:15 I asked for the epidural. I was trying for a natural delivery, but I had some super strong contractions and just knew it would be best for me to get it.
At 8:20 my dr came in and checked me again 6-7, 90% effaced and -1 station! He then broke my water!
It was 9 o clock when I felt the pressure (never felt this with my daughter so it was WEIRD). DF paged the nurse and she checked me... 10!!!!
I went from a 7-10 in about 40 minutes!!!
They wanted me to have a few more contractions and bring him down before I started pushing.
The nurse had me start pushing at 9:20, I pushed through 2 contractions (about 6 times) and then she paged for the dr. and a catcher! They arrived immediately and I started pushing... I kept feeling him get closer and closer and then knew he was RIGHT THERE. I pushed for about 5 minutes and about 6-7 times and he was born at 9:30am!!

Emerson Brooks born at 9:30am weighing 7lb 6oz (I guessed this number EXACTLY!) 19 3/4" long! He had a 13" head circumference.

I tore in 1 spot that needed 3 stitches, but other than that it went perfect! So much different than with DD where I pushed for 40 minutes.

So from Beginning of active labor until he was out, was just about 6 hours and 15 minutes! I had a lot of prep contractions there for a while though!
So glad it's over and we're home and doing good!!

Alleesha's Birth of Ruby

Alleesha's Birth of Ruby
My name is Alleesha & i wanted to share with everyone -

The Birth Of Ruby Heather

We found out we were pregnant on NYE 2010.
Well everything was going good, we booked into the docs for urine and blood tests to confirm everything, my results came back positive and my HCG levels were low but consistent for where I was at, they were only 351 but I was only 3 weeks along…
2 weeks passed and everything was perfect, until one morning when I went to the toilet and I was bleeding quite heavily… I instantly started bawling my eyes out, called Steve at work, asking if he could come home so he can take me to the docs, he got home and he held me tightly in his arms while we started to cry together…
We got to the doctors and there was a big queue, and we had to tell the receptionist why we needed to be seen, and an older lady must of overheard what we said, as after we sat down she walked up to the counter, then walked up to us and said she’s asked if we could go before her… I’ll never forget how grateful I was to her, we said thank you and we tried to find her when we got out but she was gone.
Whilst in talking to the doc, I can’t remember what he said all I know is that I was terrified I was losing my precious baby…
I asked if he could write me up a referral for an emergency scan, which he did and he also sent me for more bloods to be taken…
We were able to get a scan that same day up in the city, got there, Steve got a parking ticket, and we had to wait almost an hour to be seen, but went in and we couldn’t see much with an external u/sound so I had to have an internal one, it was uncomfortable, but we were able to see the yolk sack but instead of being 12mm big it was only 1mm and instead of having a heart rate of around or above 120 it was only 80bmp…..
Concerned she kept on looking and right next to bubs was a blood clot, it was 20mm big, the ultrasound tech said that we’d more than likely miscarry, and we should prepare for that outcome, and also that we were to have another U/sound in about 2 weeks…
Around 6 days after that u/sound I was still bleeding but I got the results of my blood test back and they had shot through the roof, they had now gotten up to around 18500, which was a fantastic sign, on the 25th January I had another U/sound, my bleeding had slowed down, and the scan revealed that the blood clot was almost gone, and that baby had gotten STRONGER and healthier, to the point where she should have been at that point, it made both Steve and I really happy, to know our baby was safe and was and is a fighter! By this point also I had developed ALL DAY sickness Lol.
A few weeks passed and before we went on a week holiday to Albany with Steve’s mum and dad, I had to have yet more bloods taken for the 12 week NT scan, then when we got back I would have the scan… I still had the ALL DAY sickness down in Albany with sort of spoiled the holiday for Steve and I because I was grumpy all the time and I just wasn’t well…
We came home and it was time for our 12 week scan, we were very excited for this scan (to see if the clot was gone) as up until this point we thought we were having a girl and so did everyone else… we went in had our scan all the measurements were perfect and the clot had now GONE and there was this over active little baby just jumping around, then our minds instantly changed from GIRL to BOY BOY BOY Lol…
Another 3 weeks later, I was 15 weeks (my sickness had finally stopped and I was 17 kilos lighter) we had booked in with foetal photo’s to have a 3d/4d scan in hope that we could find out if it was a boy or girl…. (Now before I go any further you must know that if we were to have a girl her name would be Ruby, and for a boy Jordan) For this scan Steve’s mumma came along, and on the drive up to the city, we passed a street name RUBY, which got us thinking is it, could it possibly be a sign?
Then got the U/sound place signed in got my forms went and sat down and started filling them in then all of a sudden the presenter on tv said the name’s RUBY… All 3 of us looked at each other, and smiled we got called in, and not even 5 minutes into the scan the lady said congrats you’re having a little GIRL…
We knew straight away that the street name and the tv was a sign… On the way home Steve’s mum called his dad and let him know…
We also stopped in Cockburn to do a little shopping for some cute girlie clothes, teehee…
At 17 weeks I started to feel movements and lots of them, at first they were really soft and delicate, but then they started to get really powerful Lol.
Another 4 weeks passed and it was time for our 19 week anatomy scan & just to make sure we asked if they could tell us the sex of bubs half way through the u/sound tech said that she was 90 % sure that bubs was indeed a girl, anyway at the end of the u/sound they still needed a clear picture of the heart but Ruby kept putting her arms in front so they couldn’t get one so the POKED and PUSHED and made me cry trying to get this 1 picture, in the end they didn’t get a really clear one like they wanted but being in there for 3 hours already it was 5 o’clock and they gave up…
The next day I hadn’t felt Ruby move and I was in A LOT of pain from all the poking and prodding so being scared and also being our 1st baby, we went to the hospital - but because I wasn’t 20 weeks yet (just 2 days short) I was kept in the ED, and after about 3 long hours waiting we finally got to listen to her heartbeat and everything was fine, which was GREAT news…
The half way mark came and went and then before Steve and I knew it we were at 25 weeks and it was our baby shower, we invited about 20 people, including my Aunt, Uncle and cousin AKA my mum dad and brother, at first they told me they wouldn’t be able to make it, cause of work, which was understandable as they live 6 hours away so it’s not just around the corner…
The morning of our baby shower I got a txt from my mum and dad saying they were really sorry they couldn’t make it.
We set up the living room with all the decorations and food and all those bits and bobs.
I had a couple of my school friends and Steve’s mum sitting with me in the lounge whilst the boys were outside, anyway I hear a car door slam, so I looked out the window, only to see a lil pink Nissan micra, which only meant one thing…
My mum, dad and brother where here after telling me they couldn’t make it (they tricked me)…
anyway I got up so quickly I couldn’t find my feet fast enough so I staggered forward and fell on my knees grazing them on the carpet (where there is now a permanent mark reminding me every day what happened) and I was screaming cause I was so excited lol, Steve thought I was in a fight with one of the girls that were already here so he ran through the house, when I did manage to get back up I gave my dad the BIGGEST hug ever and same with my ma and brother (I hadn’t seen them in over 2.5 years)
Any way the day went so quickly, later on my M,D, & B took Steve and I out for dinner and I had the most GORGEOUS porterhouse steak with garlic sauce OM NOM NOM… then we had to say goodbye and that was the longest most saddest drive home!!
4 weeks passed and Steve and I were sat watching a scary movie eating Hungry Jacks and all of a sudden I was in A LOT of pain that kept on coming and going, we called the maternity ward and got told to go in so I could be checked over and Ruby monitored, the midwife said I was in very early labour and that I was to take it very easy, every week from here out I would be in hosier being monitored for reduced movement and falls and also a lot of pain in my hips…
The 9th of September came and it was time for my appointment with my OB, my MIL came with me and I got told that I was going to be induced either later that day or the next… And that the hospital was waiting for me…
So my MIL and I walked over to the maternity ward, got set up in my room, called Steve to come home from work, to be told early the next morning that there were no spots for me to be induced and I would have to go back in on Tuesday the 13th, so that day came and they were yet again ready to check me in and 6:30pm came and my Ob and midwife come in and gave me the prostaglandin gel, it started working STRAIGHT away, now my cervix was still very posterior, and I wasn’t dilated at all…
I was to have another lot of gel at 12:30 1am and from that lot of gel it really amped things up, I was having regular contractions and by 5 the midwife came in to see how I was, gave me another internal to see if anything had changed which it hadn’t, but she could see I was in labour so she said to have a shower and try and relax…. YEAH RIGHT! By that time my contractions were every 2 minutes lasting 30-40 seconds, after I got out the shower I got told to put on a hospital gown and call Steve cause today was the day our beautiful baby girl would finally arrive!!!
At 8:30 my OB came into the birthing room and broke my waters, and I was 2.5 cm dilated, straight away I was in excruciating pain, I tried having a shower but couldn’t stand up as the contraction were that strong and trying to breathe through them made me sound like a steam train lol...
Whilst waiting for the anaesthesiologist to come and give me my epidural, I tried the gas and air which made me go LOOOPPPPYYYY lol. I didn’t like it one bit but it helped ease the pain until the epidural was put in and started to work… And once it kicked in OMG I loved it hehe.
11:30 came and I had another internal to find that I was fully dilated (yes from 2.5 cm to 10 in 3 hours) and her head was just there not even a whole finger length away, but she was stuck, and I had no energy to push, as I hadn’t eaten in almost 24 hours and I had been awake for almost 12 hours, they told me to get on all fours, and try push that way but as my legs were numb I had to have a lot of help getting in that position and it didn’t help at all it just made the pain worse, so they called in my delivering doc and they decided I needed help so I had an episiotomy and had the suction cup attached to Rubies head. The first one was broken so a new one had to be put on and within 2 pushes our beautiful baby girl was born…..

Danielle's Birth of Evie

Danielle's Birth of Evie

Evie arrived yesterday (Aug 2008) morning at 9:22 am weighing in at 8lbs 1oz, 20 inches long, and 14 inch head!

Friday I had been having contractions all day long 6-8 minutes apart (what's new?) but they started to get more and more painful. At around 5:30 pm we headed over to my mom's house to celebrate Amber and Vanessa's birthdays. The contractions kept coming through dinner and by 8 pm I wanted to do nothing but head home and lay down.

Around 10 pm something changed with the contractions and I couldn't get through them on my own anymore. Each one had me bawling and shaking like crazy. Shaun packed up the car, we stopped to pick up my mom, then we headed to the hospital. Contractions were about 3-4 minutes apart at this time. By 11:30 we were completely checked in and settled into our hospital room. I was shaking uncontrollably and really hoping that I was dilated to at least 5cm. But no, I had made NO progress from my midwife appointment on Wednesday. All the contractions I had been having since Wednesday night had done NOTHING. I knew then that a water birth was out the window and I was going for the epidural.

Baby and I were monitored for about an hour before getting checked again. We had only made about half a cm of progress but the doctor on call said we could stay and get the epidural. Yay! Before getting the epidural I needed to get a liter of fluid via an IV. It took 3 different nurses before the IV was successfully placed.

But then the wonderful epidural man arrived! He got it placed between contractions so that I didn't have to sit in an uncomfortable position while in pain. I thought I'd get some sleep once the epidural was placed but I was too excited and nervous. My mom and Shaun got a few hours of sleep each, though, while I listened to my Ipod.

At 7 am the doctor checked me again and I had only made it to 5 cm. He suggested breaking my water, and if that didn't work, start pitocin. I asked him to let me have a minute to think about it since I was feeling nervous about the pitocin. He left the room and my midwife showed up 15 minutes later (just started her shift). I told her we wanted to go ahead and break my water. She checked me and said "Wow! You might be ready to start pushing as soon as we break your water!"

I ended up being about 8 cm. I went from a 5 to an 8 in 15 minutes! Yay! She broke my water and within an hour I started pushing. One hour, 15 minutes after that...Evie was born!

Jessica's Birth Of A Daughter

i was on depo shots for 9 months before my fiance and i decided to start trying for a baby. every month we would take an at home pregnancy test only to see negative. this happened to us for 18 months and by the end i was ready to just give up when i started feeling uneasy so i bought a test. i waited 10 minutes and it came up "POSITIVE" i was so happy as was my partner. we went to the GP who did another test and told us " it says posiitive but its not a dark enought line so im going to say its negative" i was devistated. the next day i decided to get a second opinion and was told it was definetely a positive, my fiance nearly jumped out of his chair, it was the happiest day of out lives.

pregnancy went fine other then the constant pain of my sciatic nerve which forced me out of work when i was 5 months pregnant, by week 36 i was tire of being pregnant so i went to my appointment and was told i had pre-eclampsia. i was in and out of fetal- monitoring for the next 3 weeks. i wanted the baby to come soo bad but my grandmother was overseas and i wanted it to wait for her to come home, she came home and attended my next appointment with me when i was 39 weeks. i was told i would have to have the baby out within 48 hours. 2 days past and my cervix didnt want to dialate but finally it did.

i was induced the next day at 7 am and my waters were broken. i was force to have an epidural because of my condition and i slept most of the labour while my fiance and mum were sitting around waiting, 15 hours later it was time for me to start pushing, but the baby was just too comfortable so they took me to prepare me for a c-section, they gave me a much stronger epidural which made me sick all over my fiance. finally they told me they would try forcep and low and behold my little girl was born weighting 3.260kg/7lb 1oz and 53 cm long on 01/10/2010was the happiest day of our lives so far

Thank-you
