Tennille's Birth of Kiannah-Lee
Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 1:17PM I found out i was pregnant with my first child at the end of Nov 2010, i was so excited I was due AUG 5th. All through my pregnancy I had a few problems bleeding, amitted into hospital because my dog attacked me. But my little jelly bean still survived. I missed out on my 20 week scan as i couldnt get in any where to have and ultrasound. I was 24 weeks and i finally mananged to get in. they started the ultrasound and i knew something wasnt right with the look on the sonographer face she looked concerned. I already new i was having a girl i found out when i was 15 weeks, so the sonographer told me i was going to have to have ultrasounds every 2 weeks as my baby had growing problem she was really small then what she should of been.
So every 2 weeks i was having ultrasounds to check bubs growth, she wasnt growing like she should of been, i was still going for weekly check up with my baby dr he started getting really concerned as well. He started doing bloods and found out i had an inactive thyroid and he thought that was the reason why bubs was having growth problems i was put on medication for that, but there was still no growth. So i was about 32 weeks went to my dr for my check up he did my blood pressure and it was sky high for me as i always had low blood pressure i was rushed in to the local hospital with pre clampsia.
I was on Bed rest for a week we had a discussion of an emergancy c-section was on the tables. Then i got scared. After a week in being in Rockingham Hospital i was transfered to King Edward memorial Hospital for women. I was in there for 3 days they stabalised my blood pressure i was on tablet 4x a day 200mg each dose. I was dischared from hospital. I was a bridesmaid for my partners sisters wedding on the saturday, monday came went for a check up and i was amitted back into King Edward merorial Hospital, i was back on bed rest again.
Friday came and the specialist made the decsion i was going to be induced sometime on the weekend. I had so many emotions running through me. Saturday came and still no induction i started getting really annoyed i just wanted to meet my little girl. Sunday morning at 1:30 am i was woken up by the midwives taking me to the birthing suite to insert a foley cathider, to start the induction. I got it inserted and went to sleep i was woken up at 730 am by my partners phone call. I told him what was happening he came to the hospital straight away. By lunch time i started getting mild contractions more like really bad period pains. The midwives told me i could go for a walk to let gravity do its job. I was so happy i was finally allowed to walk with no wheelchair.
By 3pm the midwives broke my waters eehhhh horrible feeling! They then put me on a drip to speed up labour i was getting contractions every 2 minutes lasting a minute each. I was doing really well just with the gas, i could deal with the pain i was just sooo tired. By 8 pm they checked to see how far dialated i was, i was 4 cm so they got the anethitst to give me an epidural i had to wait 2 hours for him. 10 pm the anethitist came in to give me an epidural. Soon as i sat up i got contraction after contraction took him an hour to get it in. I layed down and he was about to administer the drug and i said i needed to push so the midwives checked and the could see her head.. Happiest moment of my life this is nearly over!!
So i gave 3 big pushes and my daughter was born. I only got a 2 secong cuddle as she had to be hushed to Intensive Care. I got in the shower managed to have an arguement with the midwife cause i was having a to long of a shower i told her where to go! lol..
I made my way up to intensive care and my tiny little baby was there. I then found out instead of being 34+5 weeks size she was the size of a 29 weeker.
3 pound 1 ounce (1.640 kgs) head circumference was 29 cms. and 40 cm longs. i cried i couldnt believe my little baby was born and soo small. She was breathing on her own no oxygen needed. She was transfered to Special Care unit where she was palced in a humicrib i wasnt allowed to take her home until she was over 2kgs, so 3 weeks later she came home. Everything was so good she was a perfect baby barely cried she put herself to sleep couldnt ask for a better baby. A week after being home she got broncoitis she almost died. She was in hospital for 8 days on oxygen and an IV drip for fluids. After 8 days my baby was home again. She is now 5 months old and only 6-7 kgs she has come such a long way she couldnt make me any prouder.
