Birth Story Template

I think the very best stories are the ones the mom's write without a care to punctuation or rules of grammar.  The message gets through loud and clear.   It's your story and you can not get it wrong.  WAIT!!!  Did you all get that?????  It's YOUR story.  It can NEVER be wrong.  Go ahead and send it to your high school English teacher!

That being said,  there are those who just don't know how to start, or worry about the punctuation and grammar anyway.  Hopefully these little templates with help:

Your Birth Story in Paragraphs:

Try to remember that each paragraph is its own topic.

1. Your first paragraph may be about your aching back that woke you during the night.
2  Your next paragraph may be about the moments when you knew you were *really* in labor.
3.  The next paragraph may be about getting to the hospital.
4.  If something funny or unusual happened, describe that.

or

1. Your first paragraph may be about your pregnancy.
2. Your next may be about the month you were on bed rest.
3.  A paragraph about the other kids anticipating the birth of a sibling.

The story can be pages long or a few paragraphs.  Put a comma in when you want a pause.  Use an exclamation point somewhere!  Put side ways smilies ; )

Type your story on the computer or write it in crayon.  Just be sure to put a copy in the baby book.

The Down and Dirty Method of Writing Your Birth Story:

This is simply keeping a chronological order of the events.  Elaborate where you want; keep it brief if you feel like "I hated my husband by 4 a.m." says it all (and it does!)

1.  Contractions started at 1 a.m.
2.  At 2 a.m. I took a shower, packed, and shaved my legs.
3.  We were being checked in at 3 a.m.
4.  I hated my husband by 4 a.m.

or

1.  Sometime in the middle of Sunday night I woke up to a wet bed.  I was sure I had peed the bed when I stood up and felt a gush of water run down my leg.  I was pretty sure it wasn't pee then!  I was so excited but I wanted to let my husband sleep while I gathered some last minute things to pack

2.  I woke up my husband just before dawn with my bags packed and the car loaded.  He was a little surprised that I had packed the car but I was wide awake and excited.
